I just wanted to write a quick note to say thanks so much for coming to our show (we heart Renfield too) and for letting us in on the incredible party that is the Fringe. And thanks to the folks at Mainline for giving us a great home (and for actually putting on interesting plays all year round and inspiring us to do the same). P.S.: I have to say though, I still cannot believe that the Chapters' award is a 50$ gift certificate. And that suit that delivered it was even more priceless. It was a fine example of the awkwardness of corporate presence in theatre. Maybe one day our government will fund the arts and we can stop pandering to these clowns. much love

I enjoyed this play. Many laughs and clever thoughts . Dracula was very well played by the actor. There were some wonderful moments. Some actors were a bit weak but that did not detract me from enjoying this show.
The evil CEO was also wonderful.

This is a fun, shit disturbing political theatre that has a sense of humour .
The leads are solid standouts . I found the play could use a bit of editing as some of the storyline can get a bit confusing . But otherwise, with rapping and dancing evil ceos and vampire girls it mkaes it worthwhile check this one out!

I saw the first beginnings of this play at Infringement two years ago. It was interesting, but not compelling or thought provoking. What I saw at Fringe last night was excellent, well acted and hugely entertaining. All of the cast were first rate in their performances, but Susannah Jones as Renfield was the best. She managed to play a character who isn't sympathetic with sympathy, pathos and great humour. Scott Kettles was a very effective Dracula, exploring his dilemmas with sublety and great understanding. He resisted being campy which the role could have lend itself to very easily.
There are only two problems with this play: 1) There are too many themes which are touched, and while some are, more or less, satisfactorily resolved by play's end, there are others that are left hanging. 2) The ending was a little too cliche and Hollywood in its ending. To conclude the play by stating that all characters were vampires except for a police officer, was a little too predictable and spoke to a desire to tie everything up when it was not really possible to do so.
All of this said, I would urge everyone still attending Fringe to see the last performance. Don't deny yourself a well crafted, well acted play and it's well worth the money spent.

Susanna Jones' ultra-camp caricature of Dracula's sidekick, Renfrew, alone makes this a must-see. But that isn't to detract from many other strong performances ... Scott Kettles plays a suave and authentic Dracula, Caroline Fournier nails a corporate PR bitch, Sibel A. ties much of the offbeat plot together with her lesbian activist character, the Dead Doll Dancers add burlesque flair.... If you're with GreenPeace or the Sierra Club you might feel a bit short changed on the environmental themes, but deep analysis hardly seems to be the point here. Heaps of hilarious dialogue and a continuous attention to fresh theatricality should be plenty to give this production top marks.

I was entertained from beginning to end especially with Renfeld and those sexy vampire girls. It was really great to see a character like Dracula headbutting up against environmental and political issues while trying to continue with his business as usual . There could be some editing of the script but the actors dive right into the script with enthusiasm and its enjoyable for the audience.

Surprisingly Literary

I really enjoyed this play. Coming as a serious lover of all things horrific, rather than as an environmental activist, what impressed me most was how literary and introspective its focus was. This is not a political play about climate change. Its a personal play about the human condition, which is what all horror is about, set in a modern context. The writing was solid and unaffected, more narrative than plot. Dracula's demise - a fixture of any vampire story - is almost existential.

This play exemplifies all that is best about the fringe. Its a work that takes itself seriously, while being funny. It may not be flawless or highly polished, but its creative and clearly a product of dedication

Jana on Dracula in a Time of Climate Change

An entertaining show with a great, campy script, marred by highly inconsistent levels of skill among the actors - some actors performing very well in one scene and completely dropping the ball in the next. Quite a few didn't seem to have a handle on the elaborate dialogue. But special praise should go to Susanna Jones as Renfield and Caroline Fournier as the ditzy and villainous Radina Klempf - they delivered wonderfully.

At least 20 minutes should have been cut from the script - when the text worked, it really worked, but when it didn't, I would rather have been peeling vegetables. However, it's still worth a look, and I would recommend seeing it drunk and late at night.

Why is this show getting so much positive buzz? Yeah, it had funny parts and some good social commentary - for about 30 of its *90* minutes. It should have had at least half an hour cut from it - dragged on way too long. Most of the cast except for the leads were painful to watch. It wasn't the worst show I've ever seen but there's no way it deserves the 100% awesome comments it gets here.

It was really great to see a familiar character like Drac attacking environmental and political issues while continuing with his business as usual (blood of course). Most importantly, it was hilarious and sexy. I was entertained from beginning to end and did not even get close to my usual "when is this thing gonna end" theatre fit.
