loved this show. it was funny, subtle and delightful. i'd love to see it again, in a professional production.
Hilarious, crisp, poetic writing, beautiful music, left the theatre wondering about how things might have turned out had the Americas not been one huge land-grab sham; I was moved and entertained. Great performances, terrific singing. Challenging material, hats off!!!
Sorry, I went in wanting to like this but I fear the writer did not know what they wanted to say. I think the actors in another piece would have been good but the lack of directiion (there did not seem to be a definite blocking) Their voices wavered uncertainly (was there a musical director) and those difficult jazz harmonies failed somehow. I felt like I was watching a web page and the projections upstaged the actors. I lost the story and the poetry of Paz was a saving grace but his objectives were unclear in the recitation. Tell us a story and allow the poliitics to unravel in the telling, but the fringe is to air new work and have it transformed through the process and I welcome that open door to artisits.
